“Fall in love with the process of trying new things, without worrying about what will be.”

Meet the therapist, Doralie “Dora” Sukhavong, LMHC.

Hi! My name is Dora and I am so honored that you are here. Seeking therapy is a significant step and I am glad you have made it this far.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who believes that we as humans are most balanced when we feel safe and understood, non-judgmentally. As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), I strive to ensure that clients are provided the space to effectively express themselves in a way that makes sense to them (i.e. music, drawing, writing, talking, etc). I named my practice For the Better because I believe that starting the therapeutic process requires a space to heal, grow, and explore that ultimately will be for the better. My priority is to allow this space for you and foster a therapeutic relationship to meet you where you are.

I most commonly work with those experiencing anxiety, depression, and life transitions. These challenges can affect various parts of the everyday life, and it would be my pleasure to work with you and help you navigate those challenges.

My approach to therapy is prioritizing your needs and personalizing sessions to reflect that. Specifically, the therapeutic styles that I utilize are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Ultimately, therapy is about recognizing that your mental health matters (just as much as physical health) and valuing the process to get there.

I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Seattle Pacific University in 2016 and my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Rochester in 2019.

A place where you’re the priority.

You’ve made a courageous step and I’m glad you’re here. Take a deep breath and realize that this is, for the better.
